Christians Have the Promise of a Long Life!

To live a long life - your Father in heaven would not want you to suffer to the end - He has provided a means of health - found in His Son's atonement. This Biblical study is especially for those who expect to die.

How to have a long life? You must find (a) promise(s) to believe!
“And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son.” John14:13
“If ye shall ask any thing in my name, I will do it.” John 14:14
“If ye love me, keep my commandments.” John 14:15

1. We decide when our life is over
“With long life will I satisfy him, and show him my salvation.” Psalm 91:16

2. Body broken for our healing Blood shed for our forgiveness (cleansing)
“Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed.” 1 Peter 2:24
"But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed." Isaiah 53:5

3. We are to live for at least 70 years
“The days of our years are threescore years and ten; and if by reason of strength they be fourscore years, yet is their strength labor and sorrow; for it is soon cut off, and we fly away.” Psalm 90:10
Psalm 90:10 "The days of our years are seventy; and if any by strength live eighty years, yet their pride is labor and sorrow; for it soon passes, and we fly away.” JG

4. We shall live and not die! We shall live to old age!
“In famine he shall redeem thee from death: and in war from the power of the sword.” Job 5:20
“Thou shalt be hid from the scourge of the tongue: neither shalt thou be afraid of destruction when it cometh.” Job 5:21
“At destruction and famine thou shalt laugh: neither shalt thou be afraid of the beasts of the earth.” Job 5:22
“Thou shalt come to thy grave in a full age, like as a shock of corn cometh in in his season.” Job 5:26

“For length of days, and long life, and peace, shall they add to thee.” Proverbs 3:2
“Length of days is in her right hand; and in her left hand riches and honour.” Proverbs 3:16
“Hear, O my son, and receive my sayings; and the years of thy life shall be many.” Proverbs 4:10
“And even to your old age I am he; and even to hoar hairs will I carry you: I have made, and I will bear; even I will carry, and will deliver you.” Isaiah 46:4
“He giveth power to the faint; and to them that have no might he increaseth strength. 30 Even the youths shall faint and be weary, and the young men shall utterly fall: 31 But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.” Isaiah 40:29-31

“I shall not die, but live, and declare the works of the LORD.” Psalms 118:17

Your life could be 120 years.
“And the LORD said, My spirit shall not always strive with man, for that he also is flesh: yet his days shall be an hundred and twenty years.” Genesis 6:3

Moses writes 70-80 years.

Moses lives to be 120 years of age.
“And Moses was an hundred and twenty years old when he died: his eye was not dim, nor his natural force abated.” Deuteronomy 34:7

Joshua lived to be 110 years of age.
“And it came to pass after these things, that Joshua the son of Nun, the servant of the LORD, died, being an hundred and ten years old.” Joshua 24:29


“I call heaven and earth to record this day against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose life, that both thou and thy seed may live:” Deuteronomy 30:19

Thou shalt come to thy grave in a full age, like as a shock of corn cometh in in his season.” Job 5:26

“The righteous shall flourish like the palm tree: he shall grow like a cedar in Lebanon. 13 Those that be planted in the house of the LORD shall flourish in the courts of our God. 14 They shall still bring forth fruit in old age; they shall be fat and flourishing;” Psalms 92:12-14
