The Family Name

Recently, I spoke with a woman who said that she decided to keep her last name when she and her husband married. I did not relate to that really well because when I married Bruce I could not wait to sign my new name, Dana Klein. It is a joy to share the same last name as Bruce. It gives me a feeling of belonging to him. Not as a possession but as a family unit. I have for my middle name the name of my father who died a few years ago and meant so much to me but as for my last name its Klein. When I married Bruce I did not cling to my maiden name. I took on his name.
We who are the bride of Jesus Christ as well cannot cling to our old nature and our old ways and our old identifications. We have to identify with him in his death, burial and resurrection. We take His name in water baptism. We die to self to live as Jesus Christ. The bible clearly teaches we are heir of Jesus Christ. An heir is not illegitimate
but bears the family name. The name Jesus means Jehovah Saves. The bible says in Acts 4:12
Neither is there salvation in any other; for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.
If you have not taken on the name of Jesus in water baptism yet what is holding you back from taking on His Name?
Many women today live in relationships with those who they are not committed to or are not committed to them. Jesus paid the commitment for our salvation on Calvary. We therefore can trust that He is always faithful. I am so glad my husband is a faithful man. One of the reasons I married him is that he has a track record of being faithful so I know I can trust him never to hurt me. So I guess I cannot relate well to the woman who wants to be married and not take on the family name. Jesus bless you today.
In Jesus,
